Screwing the Rules Video Dating Advice: How ‘The Bachelor’ Is Changing the Reality of Dating
By E!’s Famously Single Dating Coach, Laurel House
In this week’s dating advice video, relationship expert and E!’s Famously Single dating coach, Laurel House discusses how The Bachelor, particularly season 19 with Chris Soules, and other similar reality TV shows are changing the reality of dating.
Dating Advice from E!’s Famously Single Dating Coach Laurel House
“They’re helping to shape the way we view what is desirable, what is sexy,” she explains of the reality TV franchise. “With Farmer Chris from Iowa as America’s current leading man, the dating landscape has dramatically shifted.” House reveals five ways that Soules is changing the reality of dating: Women no longer want bad boys like former Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis; we see farmers as marriage material; we’re going back to the basics and forgetting about the rich and famous; we want a true gentleman; and we (finally!) think nice is sexy.

Funny enough, a reality TV show is helping us redefine real love. “It’s being authentic; it’s being our true self. It’s looking down deep and thinking, ‘What do I need in a relationship and love? What do I need in a relationship? What will sustain a relationship long-term?'” the relationship expert shares.

Chris Soules certainly seemed to be enjoying himself during last night’s episode of The Bachelor season 19! Reality TV fans got to see multiple makeout sessions and enjoy a lot of laughs, thanks to a guest appearance by Jimmy Kimmel. According to People.com, Soules kissed eight different women, claiming that it was simply part of the process of finding love. When asked by Mackenzie why he was macking with so many different honeys, he answered nervously that that’s just how he gets to know people. Becca was the only girl to deny his attempt at a smooch; instead, the two shared a sweet hug.

‘Bachelorette’ Season 10 Couple Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray Call it Quits
By Emma L. Wells
Another one bites the dust! Earlier this week, reality TV couple Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray announced that they have ended their engagement. In a joint statement published by People.com, the pair, who met and fell in love during The Bachelorette season 10, said, “After several months of being engaged and working on our relationship, we have decided that it’s best for both of us to go our separate ways. We are very sad that it has to come to this point, but this is what’s best for both of us individually.” The news of this celebrity breakup was a shock to many, as the couple appeared happy during their red carpet interview prior to Monday night’s premiere of The Bachelor.
In light of this surprising celebrity breakup, how can you handle questions about your sudden split?
Cupid’s Advice:
The trickiness and difficulty of a breakup doesn’t necessarily end as soon as you and your significant other call it quits. After you admit that it’s over, you then have tell your loved ones. So how do you stay diplomatic when your friends want to hear about the drama? Cupid has some tips:
1. Just say “no comment”: Breakups are private and potentially very painful for the parties involved, so there’s nothing wrong with telling a questioner that it’s none of their business. However, it’s usually best to put it as nicely as possible. Thank the person for their concern and then simply say that it’s a private affair and that you’d rather not talk about it.

2. Avoid pointing fingers: In most situations, a split is not the fault of just one person. Take a cue from this celebrity breakup and do your best not to place blame on your ex. After all, listing the faults of your former partner post-breakup isn’t going to make you look any better.

3. Be on the same page: Right after your split, this may seem near impossible, but in the coming months, it will help the situation if you remain amicable. You can avoid drama by making sure your stories match and your facts are true. Have a quick conversation and answer the question, “What are we going to tell people?” This will eliminate a lot of the confusion friends and family may have about what happened and hopefully help dodge any hurt feelings by sharing something too private.

Coffee Meets Bagel Dating App Co-Founder Talks About Being on ‘Shark Tank’
Interview by Lori Bizzoco. Written by Lori Bizzoco and Emma Wells.
Looking for a unique way to find love on your mobile device? Well, one of the biggest names in dating and relationship apps is about to get some air time on television tonight (and no, it’s not Tinder). Coffee Meets Bagel co-founders and sisters, Dawoon, Arum, and Soo Kang, are heading to ABC’s Shark Tank for the season premiere to seek funding for an Android app expansion that launched two days ago to compliment their growing business.
What is the Coffee Meets Bagel Dating and Relationship App?
Coffee Meets Bagel was started by the Kang sisters in April 2012 in New York. As smart, attractive, young, and busy professionals who weren’t having much success with dating, they wanted to make finding love easier and more fun for singles by creating a unique dating and relationship app. According to their website, Coffee Meets Bagel operates under three guiding principles: Firstly, your dating life should be as private as you want it to be; secondly, meeting people through friends is safe and easy; and finally, it shouldn’t be hard, uncomfortable, or tricky to meet good potential partners.
Related Link: New Dating Apps to Manage Your Love Life
Coffee Meets Bagel sets itself apart from other dating and relationship apps by providing users with only one potential match – or “Bagel” – per day at noon. Users then have 24 hours to either “like” or “pass” on their match. If you select “like” and your match does too, you get connected via SMS messages and can schedule a date. Additionally, Coffee Meets Bagel only provides matches it finds through your Facebook friend network. Perhaps this is why it has been so successful: They claim one million matches/introductions since they launched!
Their Experiences on Shark Tank
Executive Editor Lori Bizzoco had the chance to meet Dawoon a few years back at the New York launch party, and she spoke to her again this week. She wouldn’t disclose too much information about what happens on Shark Tank or about the company’s user numbers. “We don’t give out our numbers,” she reveals. Well, that’s going to make for an interesting segment tonight considering Shark Tank investors are ALL about the numbers! When asked if we’ll find out more about this on the show, she replies, “You’ll have to wait and see!” Interestingly, Mashable reported that the sisters were attacked by the sharks for being coy about their users.
It’s not that the sisters don’t know the premise of the show. In fact, Dawoon said that they are big fans. However, she does tell us that they didn’t seek out the opportunity to be on Shark Tank, explaining that ABC actually contacted them directly. “I never considered going on Shark Tank before because we are a bigger company than the entrepreneurs they typically have on the show,” referring to her company’s 11 person team and their recent funding. The company received their first round of funding in September 2012 for 600,000 dollars from LightBank Venture Capital and the co-founder of Match.com, Peng T. Ong. They received a second round of venture capital – 2.8 million dollars – from an unknown source in May 2014. Speculation is that this came from one of the sharks, but Dawoon confirms it did not. “The investment happened before the announcement was made and before Shark Tank,” she says.

But when the opportunity presented itself, they knew it was too good to turn down. “We thought it would be amazing to have one of the sharks involved because they are so smart and experienced,” she shares. “So we decided to go for it. It was very nerve-racking, but it was a lot of fun!”
When asked if there was a particular shark they would want as an investor, she points to Mark Cuban. “If I were to pick one shark [to work with], I would probably love to have him involved because he’s just so tech savvy. All the sharks are very straightforward and sharp, but I find Mark to be particularly so. I can totally see him adding a lot of value to Coffee Meets Bagel. We are very excited at the prospect of getting any of the sharks involved though.”
Like any good reality television show, there is always the possibility of some drama. We’ll just have to wait and see if Coffee Meets Bagel will be a match on the premiere episode of Shark Tank!
Tune in for Shark Tank tonight on ABC at 9/8c!
‘The Bachelor’ Season 19 Premiere: Chris Soules Meets 30 Bachelorettes
By Sarah Batcheller, Lori Bizzoco, and Whitney Johnson
If you watched the season 19 premiere of The Bachelor last night, you know that Chris Soules is in for quite a ride. The Arlington, Iowa native clearly has his hands full with this group of women! After getting booted by Andi Dorfman, there’s no telling which dynamic lady will steal his heart — and when we say dynamic, we mean it. His contestants range from a ballet instructor and a flight attendant (a profession that hasn’t reigned superior in Bachelor past) to a WWE Diva-in-Training and a former NFL Cheerleader. Some are hotties with big personalities, while others are more bashful and low-key. And then there’s the girl who depends a little too heavily on the bottle. Of course, they have one thing in common: They all want the same man. Ahh, aren’t you so glad to have season 19 of The Bachelor to start off the new year?
‘The Bachelor’ Chris Soules Opens Up About Finding His Future Wife
The Bachelor Chris Soules is serious about finding the love of his life. In fact, he recently opened up to People.com about leaving the farm life behind to expand his horizons and find The One. “There were so many great girls. I felt like I could fall in love with a lot of them right away,” he said. The new season of The Bachelor debuts on January 5th, and Soules will have 30 women to choose from at the start. With one woman arriving on a motorcycle, another proclaiming Soules could “plow her field any day,” and yet another giving him a “great squeeze,” there’s no doubt that this season’s Bachelor has his work cut out for him!
‘The Bachelor’ is a unique way to meet someone. What are three other ways to meet a potential mate?

‘Blood, Sweat and Heels’ Star Brie Bythewood on Departure From Reality TV and Celebrity Pregnancy
Bravo’s Blood, Sweat and Heels reality TV star Brie Bythewood has it all: an impressive career, a devoted man, and soon, a little girl to call her own. CupidsPulse.com Executive Editor Lori Bizzoco spoke with the real estate developer at the OK! Magazine New York Fashion Week event on September 10th to get some insight on her celebrity pregnancy and the upcoming season of the hit show. However, this week, there have been rumblings that Bythewood won’t be returning to Blood, Sweat and Heels, so we followed up with her and got the full scoop on her plans for the future. Here’s what we know:
Bravo Star Talks About Reality TV Show
The mom-to-be spoke to us about the recent rumors of her departure from the reality TV show, “It was a decision made months ago,” she reveals in our celebrity interview. “For me, my pregnancy is, and has been, my focus.”
Related Link: ‘Blood, Sweat and Heels’ Star Brie Bythewood on Baby Announcement: “There Won’t Be Any Pregnancy Scenes on the Show”
When we asked Bythewood if there were any new projects brewing or if she would be taking a break, she said that instead of slowing down, her schedule has actually picked up, and she has a new project in the works, hinting, “That will be something everyone will have to wait to see! I can’t really get into the details about it quite yet, but it will be very different from what you saw on Blood, Sweat and Heels.”
Brie Bythewood Dishes on Her Celebrity Pregnancy
The Emerson alumna describes the father of her soon-to-be daughter as her “heartbeat” and gushes that he’ll be an amazing dad. She goes on to say, “He’ll be the first man [our daughter] ever loves, and she doesn’t know how amazing of a person that is to have as a first love.”
While speaking of the gender reveal party she and her longtime boyfriend hosted, Bythewood reflects on the day their doctor called to announce the sex of their baby. She appointed her mother as the keeper of the secret, as she wanted the news to remain a surprise so she could share the moment with the rest of her loved ones. So when the party came around, the original Mama Bythewood filled a box with pink balloons, and when the couple opened it, they rejoiced at the news of a baby girl on her way.

It was difficult to meet up with a few of her former castmates to tell them the news of her celebrity pregnancy, and she regrets that they read the story in the press first. She states, “We couldn’t get it together, so I said, ‘You know what, you’re going to read some news; I wanted to tell you first.’ But I refused to tell them over the phone.”
We’re sad that there will be no pregnancy and celebrity romance on the second season of Blood, Sweat and Heels — we’ll miss the class and sophistication that the mama-to-be brought to the small screen!

‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Star Michelle Money Says, “I am the Luckiest Girl in the Whole World!”
By Ann Luther
The Bachelor in Paradise finale did not disappoint. Host Chris Harrison promised us drama, and as always, he delivered. In the end, it came down to three couples: adorable Sarah Herron and Robert Graham, solid Lacy Faddoul and Marcus Grodd, and wild cards Michelle Money and Cody Sattler. Then, Harrison rolled in with overnight date cards for the love birds, giving them time to work it out (and work it out) before the final day in paradise.

After the dates, Herron and Graham broke up and headed home. Of course, Faddoul and Grodd emerged from their room as engrossed as ever. And by a huge surprise, Money, who entered the date as unsure as one can be, and Sattler, both glowing, sauntered into the hut “satisfied” and “sore.” Money even gushed, “I have a boyfriend!”
Intertwined in all the twists and turns of the episode was the internal struggle within Money to accept the love that Sattler was offering not only her but her young daughter too. The personal trainer was so sweet and patient with her as she hesitated throughout most of their time together. The Utah hairstylist said in interviews that he wasn’t the type of guy she usually pursued. She also expressed feelings of being overwhelmed by how quickly his feelings progressed and how strongly he came on. It really wasn’t until her last moments on camera that she decided to go all in.
Now that the season is over, everyone can see that she is elated with her man. Money’s Twitter and Instagram accounts are flooded with pictures of the two of them along with her daughter. She captioned one sweet photo with, “Soooooo in love with @cody_sattler and so happy I can finally talk about it!! This man has changed my life!! I am a better woman because of him!!! I am the luckiest girl in the whole world!!” As she told UsMagazine.com, “I’ve never met anyone as amazing as Cody. I never thought someone like him existed. It’s been such a beautiful surprise.”

1. You’re so over it: When the guy that is so up your alley lets you down just like all the others that came before him, it’s time to mix it up. There is no need to keep torturing yourself with men just because they match your typical criteria. There are so many guys out there waiting for you!
2. You’re in a slump: If you haven’t been seeing anyone special for a while, it might be because you’ve boxed yourself in. When you look outside those boundaries, things will start to change, for better or worse. The point is: They’re changing. You’re getting out there and learning things about yourself that you may have forgotten because you unknowingly cut yourself off from all of those other fish in the sea.
3. He’s right there: Just like Money realized, someone could be right in front of your face, begging you to see them. Maybe you friend-zoned him ages ago; maybe he even gets under your skin a little bit; or maybe you met him yesterday and automatically wrote him off. Whatever the excuse, tell that voice in your head to pipe down and leap into his arms. Most likely, he will catch you and never put you down.

Jesse Kovacs on ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Controversy: “Guy Talk Isn’t Always Meant to Be Shared”
Interview by Lori Bizzoco. Written by Shannon Seibert.
Fans recognize Jesse Kovacs from season five of The Bachelorette, where he fought for Jillian Harris’s heart, and season one of Bachelor Pad, where he caused drama with ex-girlfriend Elizabeth Kitt. Now, he is standing at another rose ceremony, waiting to see if he will get a rose on Bachelor in Paradise tonight. “It’s funny because, during this rose ceremony, I was sick as hell. I don’t think they show it, but I was off in the jungle puking my brains out,” Kovacs tells us in our celebrity interview. “So I wasn’t even concerned about getting a rose.”

Jesse Kovacs Talks About Return to Reality TV for Bachelor in Paradise
Arriving in Tulum, Mexico this week, his first date was with Jackie Parr (Sean Lowe’s season). He knew nothing about the format of the show; he did, however, know that it was worth it if finding relationship and love was a possibility. “It’s all about the experience for me,” he shares. “If you’re open-minded, you can meet someone anywhere. It doesn’t matter if it’s on reality TV or if you’re in the coffee shop, at a bar, or at the post office.”
What wasn’t aired is that Robert Graham pulled him aside and gave him a brief rundown of the situation. “I did know that Marquel and Jackie went on a date but still felt confident that she would want to go on a date,” he confirms. He also says that everyone was super nice and inclusive. “Graham Bunn and I pretty much hung out the entire time,” he adds.
When the winemaker first got to the island, he had three or four days of date after date after date and then a rose ceremony, leaving him with little free time to get to know any of the guys except for his roommates. “I’m talking with the guys in my hut as if I were talking to any of my buddies about a girl I was seeing, totally not realizing that there were microphones in the ceiling,” he reveals. “Certain things were relayed back to the girls — and of course, guy talk isn’t always meant to be shared.”

Teasing his storyline further, he admits that something happens that leads to tension between him and one of the guys. Plus, he gets mixed up in a big misunderstanding that causes him to head home early. “That will all come out later,” he assures us. He says that he looked like the bad guy, although he was telling the truth about what happened.
Despite everything, Kovacs doesn’t have any regrets and speaks highly of his experience. “It is what it is. Realistically, I should’ve known better.” Given he walked into a similar storm between AshLee and Clare, we had to get his opinion on the situation with the ladies. “I definitely feel like AshLee is always concerned about how she will be portrayed,” the reality TV star says. “Her edit or cut was the most important thing to her. I noticed this right away.”
His Recent Relationship and Love Life
He may not have found a relationship and love on Bachelor in Paradise, but we do know is that he had a serious girlfriend since viewers last saw him on Bachelor Pad. “She was in San Diego, and I was living in Los Angeles. We spent every weekend together — we’d go to the beach, and I’d bring a bottle of wine,” he candidly shares. “We moved in together, started a business, and then split up seven months ago.”
Outside of the show, Kovacs tells us that he isn’t looking to settle down again anytime soon. Instead, he’s staying busy with his entrepreneurial endeavors. He recently opened a lounge called Liquid in downtown San Diego, and he’s still managing Kovacs Brothers Wine with his brother. “We have some wine that we’re probably going to release in early September, and then we’re going to be harvesting again,” he says of what’s next.

How can you manage your relationship and love when your feelings are different from your partner’s?
‘Bachelor’ Alum Jamie Otis Marries Doug Hehner on New Reality Show
By Sanetra Richards
A new reality show is taking the saying “love is blind” to an entirely new level. As revealed by UsMagazine.com, Bachelor alum Jamie Otis recently married a complete stranger on Married at First Sight. The show includes a line of experts — a sexologist, a spiritualist, a psychologist, and a sociologist — who pair participants with their “ideal” romantic partners. To add to the mystery, the contestants are completely unaware of who their future spouses are until they are introduced at the altar. On Tuesday’s premiere episode, Otis was set to marry software salesman Doug Hehner. Before the nuptials, she was all for finding her soul mate from the experiment — that is, until the moment of truth arrived. “She was freaking out. And it seems like she doesn’t know what’s going on,” the 31-year-old groom said “It was a tense moment.” In the meantime, there were a number of thoughts going through the 27-year-old’s head. “I’m getting married right now to someone I don’t know,” she said in her voice over. “I’m thinking I just made the ‘worst decision of my life’. I am so scared.” Viewers will have to watch next week to see how the rest of their “blind wedding” turned out!
What are some perks to going on a blind date?
Cupid’s Advice:
Going on blind dates may seem kind of taboo in today’s world. However, with the right attitude, you may just find yourself up for the idea. Below, Cupid shares a few benefits that are attached to blind dates:
1. You have no preconceived notions: Typically, when you’re going out with someone for the first time, you already know something about your date, whether it be because you’ve met, talked online, or simply Googled him. But in this case, you probably don’t know anything about your potential partner. Go into the date with an open mind — you never know who you might meet!

2. You can put your best foot forward: Now is your chance to make a great first impression. The person sitting or standing across from you has no idea what you’re like — they may not even know your last name! So show off your best characteristics and really impress them.
