David Beckham is best known for two things: his career as a former professional footballer and his marriage to celebrity love Victoria Beckham. Born May 2, 1975, the sports star grew up with one passion: football. He made his professional debut with Manchester United in 1992 at the age of 17. With Manchester United, he won the Premier League title six times, the FA Cup twice, and the UEFA Champions League once. He then went on to play for several other teams: Preston North End, Real Madrid, Milan, LA Galaxy, Paris Saint-Germain, and the England national team. He is the first British footballer to play 100 UEFA Champions League games and is internationally renowned for his range of passing, crossing ability, and bending free-kicks, which prompted the title of the football movie Bend It Like Beckham (2002) in which he had a cameo. In 2004, he was named one of FIFA’s 100 world’s greatest living players.
In 1997, at a Manchester United match, David Beckham met Victoria Adams — then known as Posh Spice. Their celebrity romance quickly took off, and they become affectionately named “Posh and Becks” in the media. Beckham popped the question a year later on January 24, 1998 in a restaurant in Cheshunt, England. Their celebrity wedding took place at Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland on July 4, 1999 in high fashion. The famous couple are parents of four children: sons Brooklyn (born 1999), Romeo (born 2002), and Cruz (born 2005) and daughter Harper (born 2011).
