Lady Gaga has more than left her mark on the entertainment industry since her debut album was released in 2008. Born as Stefani Germanotta on March 28, 1986, she grew up in an affluent Catholic home in New York City. She briefly attended New York University’s Tisch School of Arts before dropping out during her sophomore year to focus on her musical career. She was soon hired to write songs for pop stars like Britney Spears, Fergie, and The Pussycat Dolls. By 2008, she relocated to Los Angeles, California to work on her first record The Fame, which was nominated for multiple Grammy awards and won two. She has since released The Fame Monster, Born This Way, Artpop and Cheek to Cheek (with jazz artist Tony Bennett). She recently confirmed that she’s working on her fifth studio album and that she’ll be joining the cast of American Horror Story: Hotel in her small screen debut.
Known for her elaborate performances and outrageous fashion choices, Lady Gaga’s love life is much more subdued. The singer has been dating Chicago Fire actor Taylor Kinney since they met on the set of her video for “You & I” in July 2011. Over Valentine’s Day weekend of 2015, he proposed to her with a stunning, 10-carat heart-shaped engagement ring.
