In celebrity news, Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp called off their engagement. A source for UsMagazine.com reports that the famous couple split and that Ryan “…had enough and ended [their engagement]…She has no regrets.” Ryan ignited rumors of a potential celebrity break-up when she was spotted sans engagement ring. The couple were on and off for eight years and announced their engagement in November 2018.

Dennis Quaid has a lot of fond memories about his 10-year celebrity marriage to celebrity ex Meg Ryan, according to UsMagazine.com. Quaid opened up about his past marriage to the You’ve Got Mail actress in a recent interview. “[It was] my most successful relationship,” Quaid, 64, said on Megyn Kelly Today on Monday, July 23. “When we met, you know, I was the big deal. And then my career [came to a halt]. … We’d go out on the streets of New York and it would be like, ‘Meg! Meg!’ And I have to admit it, I actually did feel like I disappeared. I didn’t think I was that small, but I was. It was a growth opportunity. I learned from that.” Quaid and Ryan fell in love on the set of their movie D.O.A. and wed in 1991. They welcomed a son named Jack, now 26, the following year, and then divorced in 2001.

After more than three years together, Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp have ended their relationship. Ryan has been living in New York, while Mellencamp has been staying on a farm in Indiana. A source tells UsMagazine.com that “the distance got to be too much” for the couple. Best of luck to both of them as they go their separate ways!

I hate to be Debbie Downer, but at the rate brick and mortar book stores are closing, I don’t know how much longer this awesome date venue will be available. Doesn’t it feel like just yesterday that there was all the uproar about how the mega-book stores were killing off the mom and pop book shops?  Remember the movie You’ve Got Mail and how disgusted you were when Joe Fox’s (Tom Hanks) Fox Books forced Kathleen Kelly’s (Meg Ryan) Little Shop Around the Corner out of business? And now Amazon and e-commerce is killing off the mega-book stores. He asks her to search for a specific star, and when she questions him about it, he says he had it named after her.  The scene is sealed with a kiss.
