It’s April Fools’ month, and we’re all in need of a good laugh. Stand-up comedy can be the perfect way to trigger that funny bone for you and your partner. Taking your beau to a comedy show is a unique date idea when you’re looking for something new to do. It’s also affordable for someone on a budget with tickets usually costing around $20 – and you’ll certainly be getting your money’s worth.
Alright. So, maybe your baby isn’t crazy about stand-up. Not a problem. You can pick seats close to the bar and enjoy quiet conversation and a cocktail. If you’re both excited about the show, go all out and find a seat close to the stage to make sure you and your date get the most out of your experience. Call the waitress over and order some appetizers and drinks for the table; indulge in your favorite chips and guacamole or some wings. A few munchies and beverages will quell any worries you might’ve had about sitting in front of a comedian that might take the opportunity to pick on you.
Forget about all of the awkwardness of an ordinary dinner and a movie date. If your date has a sense of humor, then the comedian’s inappropriate jokes will be ironically appropriate. If the comedian asks for audience participation, volunteer your date (as long as you have his permission) and cheer him on at whatever ridiculousness they’re forced to do on stage. The ability to be at ease in each others company will only strengthen how seriously you two can take this relationship.
Not only is the ambiance great, but laughter is contagious. Everyone around you will be loving the show, forcing you and your partner to join in and get into it. It’s also a great date to invite a couple of your friends to join – the more, the merrier.
If you’re not ready for the night to end after the show, head over to the closest bar and use this time for some deeper conversation. You  can talk about your favorite jokes of the night and then transition into more worthwhile topics. Now that the ice is broken, you can really get to know each other.
