With the day that commemorates love and romance less than a week away, free yourself from all of the Valentine’s Day haters and plan something memorable for your special someone. Anyone can go out to dinner or exchange chocolates held by stuffed animals, but this year, make the holiday one that neither of you will forget with a romantic trip to the city.
Once you decide on your location and your budget, make sure you have transportation and a place to stay. You don’t necessarily have to go somewhere outrageous, but if you can swing the ultimate city of love – Paris, France – we definitely recommend it! Nothing is too luxurious for your loved one, so take your sweetheart on a trip of a lifetime. Decide if you want to explore the bewitched district, visit Montmartre or have dinner on the second-floor of the Eiffel Tower at Jules Verne. The sights will be as remarkable as each other’s company.
A second way to feel out of this world without straying too far from home is by traveling to a romantic hot spot nearby. If you’re on the West Coast, visit San Francisco. If you’re on the East Coast, take a day trip to the Big Apple. Either way, the feeling of being surrounded by so much activity will energize and excite you to see and do as much as possible in one weekend. In San Fran, you can bike over the Golden Gate Bridge, or in New York City, go to the top of the Empire State Building. Hop on the nearest public transit and see what spots inspire you. The point is to be spontaneous, take risks and fall even more in love.
If you can’t afford a getaway right now, bring Paris to you. Decorate your dining room to resemble an elegant French restaurant and brush up on some basic French vocabulary. “Je t’aime” (I love you) will be a sure way to capture your partner’s heart. Order French take out or try and cook your own meal.
Whatever you end up doing, making an effort to sweep your significant other off his or her feet will ensure that you both have an unforgettable Valentine’s Day. As long as you’re with the person you love, the rest is just details.
